The Idea
The Cormorant will be a coworking space and community in the Outer Sunset of San Francisco, near the beach. Its members will be designers, writers, programmers, and other self-employed people who want to work around others, but need a workplace that is more stable and comfortable than a coffeeshop. It will be a place to work, to meet others, to share ideas, and to learn and improve skills. It will be warm, well-lit, sustainable, and homey. It will have all the necessary amenities like printers, a reliable internet connection, well-designed workspaces, a meeting room, and good coffee. And in time, we hope, it will be an integral part of the local community.
Want to help?
Right now, The Cormorant doesn’t exist. We’d like to bring it into being. Right now we’re in the (very) early stages, so we’re looking for:
- People who are interested in helping make The Cormorant happen
- People who are interested in being a member when it does happen
- Spaces that might be a good home for The Cormorant (we’re primarily interested in the Outer Sunset in San Francisco)
If any of these apply to you, please fill out this form letting us know about your interest. (If you fill out the form you’ll have the option to sign up for our mailing list, but you don’t have to.)
Huge numbers of cormorants (of various species) nest on the Farallon Islands and other spots along the coast here. They’re magnificent birds. Plus, when in doubt, put a bird on it. The illustration of a Brandt’s Cormorant in our masthead is CC-licensed from the NOAA Photo Library.
